Red - A World About to Dawn

TA-DA! How do you like my new color? It was a spur of the moment decision, but I like how it turned out!

I was talked into doing it by two of the girls at work, Sami and Liz. They both recently graduated from Amber's and were back taking a cutting class today. They had some extra time, so they volunteered to help me in this adventure. (They're both super talented, and I totally trusted them. They did a great job!)  We use Davines at Amber's, and since I was too shy to try a permanent color, we decided the Finest Pigments line was the best choice. Finest Pigments do not contain ammonia, so the color will wash out in a couple weeks.

I've done this to my hair before (out of a box), but this was my first time putting any sort of high-end color on it. It was fun! I'm interested to see how fast it will fade and it will look like over the course of the next few weeks.

So, in honor of my new red-ish hue and my coordinating outfit, here is a song - NERD ALERT - from my favorite musical, that matches oh so well:

Geekin Out

I love learning something new. Today I found this post on Boardwalks & Boulevards, which complies a list of totally free photoshop brushes! I had never really used them before, so I was super excited to put my new knowledge to the test. (See picture 4). Pretty nifty, right? I foresee some brush fun in my future...does that make me a geek? Not according to Portlandia.

Liar, Liar

Let me start out by saying - I LOVE this outfit! I felt pretty and comfortable because all the pieces are stretchy cotton. The structure and panels in the tank combined with the faux leather detail make it a perfect transition piece from day to night.

I must admit, though, that these shoes are a complete lie. I only wore them for outfit pictures - they're just too high to wear for a whole work day!

Dreamy Creamsicle

Tank & Pants: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Cardigan: Target
Wedges: Vera Wang for Kohl's
Earrings: Betsey Johnson
Bracelet: GAP

This outfit reminds me of a tasty summer treat, like a creamsicle! I love the bright pants paired with neutrals - dreamy!

I spent way too long re-working some aspects of my blog, so now my brain is the equivalent of a creamsicle on a hot summer day - melted. So, I better sign off before I turn into a giant, sticky puddle! Goodnight!

I've recently graduated from college (WOOT WOOT!) and moved on to my first real job!
That means, along with many other changes in my life, my blog will be changing as well. I'll now be chronicling more polished & professional outfits for a young 20-something in a business casual work environment.
This was one of those outfits that came together perfectly. I had been searching for a top to put with this skirt, but hadn't thought of this combo until this morning. I love it! Also, I would really recommend these wedges for a woman who wears heels all day - they're lightweight and they fit my feet like a dream. I hardly notice I'm wearing heels!
P.S. How do you like my happy twirl?

I'm back! After an unintentional hiatus from the blog, about 60 pages of papers, and 5 projects later, I think I'm here to stay (for the next few weeks, at least!).

The temperature has been fluctuating quite a bit down here, and today was a chilly one.  I piled on the layers and braved the cold to make it to work and my last Thursday class of the semester! Hooray!

Here's to hoping I'll make it back soon.

Dress: Urban Outfitters
Tights: Macy's
Shoes: Blowfish
I love this quirky print! It's supposed to be a shirtdress, but the bottom half of the buttons pulled too much when they were closed.  My solution was to take a skirt and wear it underneath, leaving the bottom buttons open and making the dress look more like a coat/smock/robe.

Matching tights completed the look and made for a perfect addition on this cold and rainy day.
