1. From disappointment comes determination.

2. Finding a new path is refreshing.

3. High expectations means hard work.

4. A little coffee goes a long way.

5. Belief is powerful.

Sweater: Pimkie, Spain
Cami: Target
Jeans: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Shoes: TOMS
Hat: Forever 21

This is what I wear on a typical Tuesday: a simple sweater or t-shirt, repeat denim from the day before, some kind of hat, and flats or sandals.  I only have one class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so I like to wear comfy clothes because I spend most of the day working on homework or completing other projects.

Also, the temperature dropped about 40 degrees from last week, so I chose my warmest sweater to protect me from the fierce winds and to keep me cozy.  I can't wait until it gets back into the 80's again!

P.S. I'm cracking myself up because I didn't realize how much this outfit blended in with the background until just now - I look like a chameleon!

Have a happy Tuesday! :)

Grandma Knows Best

Blazer: Vintage Ralph Lauren (Stolen from Grandma's closet!)
Tank: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Jeans: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Wedges: GAP
Headband: Forever 21
Necklace: Tiffany & Co.

I inherited this blazer from my grandma after she passed away, and this is the first time I've truly worn it for any event.  I'm giving a presentation in my night class in a few hours, and this outfit is the perfect blend of professional and casual.  Also, the color palette is yummy!

I love vintage clothing and I've been itching to go thrifting, but I haven't been anywhere in Muncie yet.  Does anyone know of vintage/thrift stores around here?

This is the most fascinating, beautiful tree I have ever seen! It sits at the end of my street (although I wish it was right outside my window!), and I am able to enjoy it whenever I please.  I am enamored with its array of colors, which range from a soft, blush pink to a powerful, vivid lavender.  It is so relaxing to watch the wind gently blow petals in a dizzy haze to the ground, forming a soft, lush blanket beneath its branches.

I couldn't pass up an opportunity to photograph a beautiful piece of mother nature, and what made it even more perfect was my matching shorts AND toenail polish.  I love the simplicity of my outfit - just a tank, shorts, and sandals, and it still possesses a "put-together" quality.

I hope everyone is having a sunny, happy day!

P.S.  If you are in Muncie, drop by Noodles & Co tonight to help support Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honors Society, of which I am a part.  25% of sales will benefit our organization in our community.  All you need to do is say you want to donate to Lambda Pi Eta, or LPH for short!

To the Maxi

19March12(1) 19March12(2)19March12(3) 19March12(4) 19March12(5)

Tank: Target
Denim Jacket: GAP
Skirt: Maurices
Watch: Gift
Bracelets: (gold and pink) GAP, (thin gold bangles) ALDO
Necklace: Tiffany & Co
Sandals: Old Navy
Sunglasses: Rayban "Clubmaster"

I picked up this skirt from Maurices this past weekend and I love it! It's thin enough to wear on an 80 degree day like today, and it's also a great alternative to shorts.  I felt stylish and free as I walked through campus, and most importantly, I was comfortable.

I love hot, sunny, summer days because between classes I sit outside and read.  Right now I'm about halfway through Catching Fire - the second book in the Hunger Games series.  My mom turned me on to these fantastic books right before I left for Durango, and I cannot get enough!  I only hope the movies will be as good as the books are.  Is anyone going to see the premiere this weekend?

Project Accessory

16March12(2) 16March12(3)

Earrings: H&M
Bracelets: (Small gold bangles) ALDO, (floral cuff) Art show in Fort Wayne
Ring: From my Grandma's jewelry box! (vintage)
Shoes: Blowfish

Here are a few shots of my accessories I wore yesterday.  Tarnished gold is my absolute favorite color for jewelry, and I love to pile on the pieces to create a mismatched/matchy look.  Here, I used all one color, but I'm beginning to like the idea of matching silver tones with gold ones.

Also, what do you guys think of the bracelets over the cardi?  I was stuck inside all day, so wearing my accessories on the outside of my sweater was was my solution to the otherwise hidden bracelet problem.  I kinda dig it!

The Problem with Shorts

14March12(1) 14March12(2) 14March12(3) 14March12(4)

Tank: Target
Cami: Target
Shorts: See Thru Soul, Von Maur
Shoes: TOMS
Sunglasses: Rayban "Clubmasters"
Earrings: GAP
Bracelets: ALDO (gold), Von Maur (silver), Gift from China (white)
Ring: Local artist from Durango, CO

Oh my goodness, it is HOT! It finally feels like summer out there, which I love! I spent the breaks between classes today reading outside by Frog Baby and getting some sun.  It felt fantastic.

I changed my outfit about five times this morning before I finally settled on this one.  This is my only pair of shorts I own that truly fits me and that I feel comfortable in (aka, I'm covered without being too conservative).  This has been a problem ever since I gained some weight from college, and for the past few summers, I've been at a loss with how to dress myself.  Most of the shorts and skirts I find are micro mini, which is an instant no, but I don't want to totally cover myself up either.  It's hard to find the happy medium.

These shorts have a higher waist, which I like, and I can wear them with the confidence that my booty won't be hanging out of the back!   I am on the lookout for some cute, affordable shorts that are made to fit a young woman, while trying to veer away from the teenage look.  Is anyone else going through this?  Where do you find the best summer clothes?

Durango, Colorado

CO(2) CO(3) CO(4) CO(5) CO(6) CO(7) CO(8) CO(9) CO(10) CO(11)

Nick and I spent 6 days at my aunt and uncle's place in Durango, Colorado for spring break last week - and we LOVED it!  We passed the time wandering the little shops and places to eat downtown, skiing and snowboarding in the mountains, and visiting tourist attractions.  We hung out with my cousin snow-shoeing under the moon and letting loose at a tiny bar by the ski lodge.  Durango is breathtakingly beautiful and a great destination for anyone who wants to relax, spend some time outdoors, and participate in a few extreme sports.  We made some great memories while we were there, and we can't wait to go back (hopefully) this summer!
